Gastropub? The Black Dog is next door to our hotel, on Vauxhall Green. Go for home-cooked gastropub fare from lunch till late and a buzzing crowd.
Fancy something German? The charming Zeigeist has been a pub for 120 years and specialises now in German food and drink. There are 18 German beers on tap, 30 more bottled, and a menu that includes schnitzel, bratwurst and leberkäse.
Floating Bar? The Tamesis Dock is an old barge turned into a pub with live music and jazz, events, and great views of the London skyline.
LGBTQ? The Eagle is a friendly pub with all you’d expect…. beer garden, pool tables.. but they also throw iconic disco parties with renowned DJ’s and regular drag nights. The Royal Vauxhall Tavern was once again voted London’s best cabaret venue.
Important Neighbours
The London Eye will take you on a spin above central London, a great way to appreciate its true splendour.
Big Ben is just across the river, part of the Houses of Parliament.
The new US Embassy is something to behold. Not just the modern architecture, but the 8 ft moat, the Ambassadors balcony, and the gardens surrounding.
Walker Books is an independent publisher founded in 1977 publishing 300 titles per year.
The headquarters of Channel 4, Burberry, and MI6 are also near our hotel.
Museum
Only 15 minutes away by walk you have the renowned Imperial War Museum, where you will discover engaging historical exhibitions, and it’s FREE. Tate Britain is also easily accessible and FREE entry, with a historical and contemporising collection of sculpture, photography, and painting.
Dining
Greasy spoon? The Queen’s Head on Black Prince Rd is just what you’re looking for.
Tea & Cake? The Tea House Theatre (opened in 1886!) serves artisanal teas, sandwiches, cakes, and homemade jams. The theatre is worth a visit too.
Vegetarian/Vegan? The Bonnington Cafe is a cooperatively run restaurant where different chefs cook daily. Fair prices and hearty food. Booking needed.
Gourmet? Darby’s, located just across from the American Embassy, is a love letter from acclaimed Chef Robin Gill to his father, an Irish jazz musician.
Transport
Taxis? It is possible to be dropped off right outside our front door from the airport, for ease with luggage.
Tube and Train? Our hotel is located in London City Centre in Zone 1. Vauxhall Underground and Vauxhall Train Station are a five minute walk from the hotel. Lines serve all of London, including 24h tube lines.
Bus? London Victoria Coach station is one stop away by tube.
Essentials? Sainsbury’s and Waitrose are both located just outside the tube and train stations.
Clubbing
Hot & underground? Corsica Studios is bijoux and known for its excellent quality sound system
Big guns? FIRE hosts some of the biggest names and has several rooms to explore.
Iconic? The Ministry of Sound is one of Londons best loved nightclubs.
Sports
World class Cricket? The Kia Oval is home to the Surrey Cricket Club and traditionally home to the last test match of the summer.
Cycling? Rent a Santander bike from right outside the hotel and cruise around the Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens or along the Albert Embankment
Swimming and Fitness? The Vauxhall Leisure Centre has a swimming pool, fitness studios and super-equipped gym that is open to the public.
London Gin
Beefeater Gin helped perfect the London Dry Gin and the recipe hasn’t changed since the 1800s. Take a distillery tour and tasting, or just go stock up!
Art
Cult? Damien Hirst built the Newport Street Gallery to showcase his personal collections. Both the art and the custom built gallery are WOW. Entry is free and the Pharmacy2 cafe inside is seriously cool.
Contemporary? Cabinet Gallery just across the Pleasure Gardens hosts exhibitions, talks and events from contemporary artists hot on the scene.
Exhibition and studios? Gas Works commissions exhibitions from up and coming talents, awards residencies at their onsite studios.
